Serving the industry for 150 years

The Paris Commodities Exchange has existed for 150 years, on the very site of Paris’ former corn exchange. With the modernization of the agricultural industry after the Second World War, it continued to gain importance to the point of becoming one of the largest international centres for the trade of cereals, oilseeds and derivative products.

Moreover, thanks to its growing influence, several professional organizations related to agriculture and the trade of grains established themselves within the walls of this magnificent building renovated in 1889: brokers’ associations, the Arbitral Chamber and the Federation of Agricultural Trade.

After the end of the war, all Commodity Exchanges suffered a steady drop in attendance. However, the opening of the borders made it possible to hold international sessions organized by major commercial centres. Paris was to play a key role.

The Syndicat Général de la Bourse de Commerce de Paris is an association pursuant to the 1901 law managed by representatives of the agri-food and agro-industrial industries and related services. It includes 12 representatives whose term is renewable and who are elected by third parties. They in turn elect the chairman, two vice-chairmen, the secretary and the treasurer.
